Jeff's Story

Jeff is a designer/planner with nearly 30 years of experience and the founder of Earthwise Design. He is passionate about strengthening connections between design and nature for buildings, sites and people. Jeff is an enrolled citizen in the Cherokee Nation and has a diverse background in fine arts, interior design and landscape architecture that gives him a well-rounded approach to architectural design. He brings a deep understanding of the importance in designing place-specific buildings that incorporate concepts based around culture, sustainability, sociology, biomimicry, and regenerative design. His design focuses on restoring sites, buildings, and places to a level that heals nature and brings architecture to a new, higher level of achieving meaningful connections. As an advocate for community-based design, Jeff engages user groups in the process, which results in designs that celebrate the unique qualities of that community and their goals.

Throughout Jeff’s experiences he has focused his design efforts around working closely with stakeholder groups and communities to maximize participation in engaging collaborative design solutions. Jeff has led and facilitated various stakeholder groups with clients such as the National Park Service, US Fish & Wildlife Service, US Forest Service, California State Parks, various sovereign Tribal Governments, and numerous state agencies as well as public utilities. Jeff’s most robust public outreach involved working with 30+ community groups for the master plan and programming for the award-winning Springs Preserve.
